Feast of St Rocco

They call it “The Best Feast in the East”, and it definitely was!!

Over the weekend, we spent an afternoon at the Feast of St. Rocco, which was located at the Church of St. Rocco in Glen Cove.

There was an abundance of homemade food and pastries, rides and games for the whole family, a petting zoo and live music!

After snagging a parking spot and walking in the direction of the crowd, the delicious aroma of all of the Italian fresh foods led us in. There was so much to choose from, both sweet and savory, that our clothes seemed a bit snug when it was all said and done.

We couldn’t resist the sausage and peppers, steak and mozzarella sandwiches, doughnuts, rainbow cookies and gelato!

We probably could have ventured to the festival a few different times, trying different foods on each occasion! There was the famous Pasta Pavilion, as well as St. Rocco’s Bakery, which is family owned and features delicious Italian pastries.

The kids were sure to have a blast at the petting zoo, where they could feed and interact with goats, bunnies, a cow, and more! There were tons of rides to choose from, as well as games to play. If this wasn’t enough, you could also stop by the vendors selling clothes, crafts and unique gifts.

The Church of St. Rocco is truly beautiful, and there was a procession following Mass on Sunday.

The only downside? We have to wait a whole year before we can go back!
