50th Annual “Art in the Park” Festival

This past weekend over 70 vendors and craftspeople visited Heckscher Park in Huntington Village to celebrate their artistic creativity and display, share and sell some incredible and unique works of art.

The event – sponsored by the not for profit Art League of Long Island – was a huge success as the community turnout was fantastic. There was something for everyone across the crafts universe - from original paintings, drawings and sculptures to custom jewelry to handcrafted woodworking, ceramics and glass pieces.

A number of the crafts-folk participating in the festival were either recognized by the League or won awards for their work. Check out our gallery – maybe you met one or two of them!

For those not familiar with the festival’s sponsor, the Art League of Long Island is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to broad-based visual arts education and providing a forum for area artists of all ages and ability levels to showcase their talents. Since its inception in 1955, the mission has “focused on enhancing Long Island's cultural life by promoting the appreciation, practice and enjoyment of the visual arts”.

By hosting collaborative events and outreach programs - like the “Art in the Park” Festival – the League endeavors to spread the joy of creativity among every segment of Long Island’s population.

So if you made it over to the park this weekend have a look and see if you can find yourself in the gallery below!

Northport Art & Music Festival, Northport Village Park

In addition to the Art in the Park event in Huntington Village – Northport held the 58th edition of its popular Northport Art & Music Festival at the Northport Village Park adjacent to Northport Harbor.

This year’s event, along the shore of Long Island Sound, showcased the talents of many aspiring student artists with a grand exhibition of work prepared by children in grades K-12.

In addition to the art displays, festival-goers were entertained by performances by the Northport Fiddlers Club a group of young musicians from the local area - and more.

If you missed either of these great events this weekend be sure to mark your calendar for next year!
