Get Calm. Glimpse Some Water in the Huntington Area

By now, you’ve almost certainly seen a news story somewhere online about the therapeutic benefits of living near water.

Study after study has shown us that our brains are hardwired to react positively to water. Scientists have spoken about correlations between viewing water and decreases in blood pressure and heart rates.

One recent study even showed that people who live near large bodies of water report feeling less stress and better health than those who don’t.

Lucky for us, we have PLENTY of water to look at all around the greater Huntington area! Increased calmness and well-being can be ours! All we need to do is put down our cellphones, visit some of our picturesque ponds and shorelines, and slow down our fast-paced lives long enough to experience the stunning natural splendor that surrounds us in the place we call home!

To help get you started, here are a few recent photos from Heckscher Park, Gold Star Beach, and near Westneck Beach (at the private access for Lloyd Harbor residents)…
