Are you aware that Huntington has a vibrant Winter Farmers' Market?
Located at the Jack Abrams STEM School (155 Lowndes Avenue in Huntington Station), the Huntington Winter Farmers' Market will be present on February 19th and March 5th + 19th.
Market-goers can visit their favorite vendor stalls, fill their baskets with fresh, local food, and stay to enjoy freshly-brewed coffee and scones PLUS lunch items such as soups, sandwiches, and empanadas. In addition, this season they are having local authors and musicians on site.
Living Huntington recently caught up with Lona Graepel, Market Manager at G&G Long Island Farmers Market, and we asked her to share a little additional information about her venture:
'In 2010, my sister Jaime Greci and I established the first indoor winter Farmer’s Market on Long Island. The indoor market affords local businesses the opportunity to sell their products in an extended season, and improve access for consumers to obtain local, sustainable and organically produced food. In addition to supporting our local farmers and local small businesses, our market also hosts local musicians and offers family activities like poetry reading and children’s crafts. This warm, family friendly atmosphere goes a long way helping to bring various facets of the Long Island community together.'
'Our market is a place where local vendors greet market-goers with booths overflowing with seasonal produce, including purple and green kale, carrots, parsnips, beets, fennel, apples, potatoes and onions, plus meats, eggs, artisan breads, cheeses and sweets – everything shoppers need to create seasonal meals from our local bounty.'
