Camp W is an 8-week day camp located in Melville, NY and offer programs for children Pre-Kindergarten through 9th grade.

Campers will enjoy exciting camp activities including athletics, swimming, creative arts, computers, rocketry, game room, and so much more. They also offer early / late care.

About Camp W

Camp W, “Where Friendships Are Made,” has created an atmosphere where your child builds confidence and self-esteem in an exciting and nurturing environment. Their small camper to staff ratio allows them to really get to know your child.

The unique summer camp program at Camp W is specifically designed to meet the needs of each camper. Their age appropriate programs give them the opportunity to provide each camper with a safe, fun and rewarding experience. They offer a wide range of activities that are designed to fit the needs of campers of all ages and skill levels under the supervision of their experienced, caring counselors.

Sports, arts & crafts, music, camp shows, and special events will provide a fun-filled day for every member of the Camp W family. Camp W offers every child the chance to pursue their interests and passions. They provide the staff needed to help campers develop skills and friendships that will last a lifetime.

A variety of traditional and unique activities are offered at Camp W -- all taught by skilled counselors and specialists. Special events and entertainment are brought to camp each week. Their athletic, creative arts and specialty programs provide their campers with new and exciting experiences. They also feature a daily swim program that is taught by American Red Cross Certified instructors.

  

  

KIDDIE CAMP (Pre K – 1st Grade)

4 Year-Olds

Camp W's littlest campers, known as “Wallabies”, are four years old entering Pre-K. This group is coed and has a very small counselor to camper ratio to provide extra care and attention that these youngsters need.

Kindergarten and 1st Grade

These groups will be gender based and also have a very small counselor to camper ratio. A wide range of activities are enjoyed in a nurturing setting. This atmosphere fosters social & physical development, builds confidence and helps campers to make new friendships.

  • Professional Camp entertainment three times a week (Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays)
  • Snack at 10:30am and again at 2:00pm
  • Schedule of sports, creative arts and so much more

  

MIDDLE CAMP (2nd – 3rd Grade)

Middle Camp: Campers entering 2nd and 3rd grade (Campers start to choose two of their afternoon activities)

Middle Camp consists of campers entering 2nd and 3rd grade. Groups average 12 campers with a head counselor and an assistant counselor in each group. Campers are separated by gender and have counselors of the same gender. Campers will have a set schedule in the morning with their group. After lunch, campers will have two choice periods, and then return to their groups for the rest of the day.

  

UPPER CAMP (4th – 8th Grade)

Upper Camp: Campers entering (4th – 8th grade)

Upper Camp consists of campers entering 4th grade through 8th grade. Groups average 12 campers with a head counselor and an assistant counselor in each group. Campers will have a set schedule in the morning. After lunch, campers will have three choice periods, and then return to their groups for the last period of the day.

Campers in Upper Camp are invited to the Camp Sleepover on Friday, July 27, 2018. Campers in the oldest groups (6th -8th grade) will also go a few special trips.

Campers choose 3 afternoon activities, are invited to the Camp Sleepover and the oldest campers go on a few special trips.

  

  

APPRENTICE PROGRAM (14 & 15 year olds)

Apprentices will learn all the programs and safety systems that are used by Camp W staff. They will also meet with a camp administrator twice a week to discuss the staff manual and to learn about the staff orientation sessions. Important Aspects of Being an Apprentice at Camp W

  • There is no fee for this program, however Apprentices must pay $35 for their camp shirts.
  • Only students entering 9th grade can apply to be an Apprentice.
  • There is no transportation for this program unless you have a sibling attending camp.
  • Prospective Apprentices will meet with the director the weekend before camp begins.
  • Completion of the Apprentice Program does not guarantee a job the following summer. (although it will certainly help)
  • You must truly enjoy working with children and have an outgoing, friendly personality with a ton of energy.

  

Early Care & Late Care Program

At Camp W, they understand the needs of working parents and want to ease their time concerns. they are pleased to offer early care beginning at 7:30am and late care until 6:00pm for your children at no additional cost! Their drop off and pick up procedures are very secure to ensure your child’s safety. Please be aware that transportation is not offered for early care and late care.

Campers will have three well-supervised activity options to choose from: sports, game room, and arts & crafts at no additional charge!!
